My Other Reviews·Verizon west (ex G..
I just got back My internet after losing It for about 13 hours cause of the latest Snow Storm(See Below), Verizon this last weekend when It rained said My router was bad(Would not authenticate and yet I got internet back), Yesterday when It snowed Verizon said Oh Your DSL Modem is bad and does not work(False), Now I have internet access with a non-working DSL Modem and a router that's not able to authenticate, So today I called the Cancellation department, I got on the 1st call a New DSL Modem for Free instead of having to buy one like Verizon Tech Support wanted Me to do, Then when My internet came back I called Verizon Cancellation Department again(2nd call) and told them that My DSL service was back and working with a supposedly non-working DSL Modem, So their also sending a Tech out here to look at the lines(about damn time too) and Giving Me two Free Months of DSL Service(Effective starting this Month) as well as the Free DSL Modem, So what do You think?

    verizon giving free internet

I think that sux, last time I had problems with verizon was when they were charging me for stuff I didn't not order or want, like their game stuff... they said sorry for the inconvience and gave me 5 free months of service....

Water and copper do not mix

My guess is that techs there do not have to deal with water ingress very much. Not suprised that desert snow exposed your lines to some water, that it exposed some problems with the lines, and also not surprised a level 1 rep blamed your modem.

If it's any consolation, I had a similar issue with my reuglar phone service due to a leaky junction box down the block and it took a few years to get the offending hardware replaced. Not making excuses for Verizon, but it seems like an issue that would not often be evident in your environment. Hope they get you all fixed up

Re: Water and copper do not mix

Ahh, so I must have had water ingress a while ago because for some time whenever it rained my DSL would become unstable and go offline. Before that I had an incident which periodically during heavy usage time my DSL modem would get a red light and go offline. Whenever I made a call things would correct itself. It took me a month before I actually got a customer rep named Jesus (no kidding) who listened and got a repair guy to come out and fix the line. Prior to that I spent hours on end on hold and resetting/reinstalling my network.

That was a year and a half ago, now I am pretty happy with my service. No calls to customer service goes a long way.
