The service is great, 1.5 meg wireless EVDO 3g Internet speed. The service setup was hassle free. I got a free wireless router, and a booster antenna. I have received acceptable speeds at 1 to 1.4 meg. The latency and ping rate is about ~200 ms which is much better than satellite. It has been very good except for one technical issue that lasted for a few days recently. One of the pins on the adapter cable that goes from the booster antenna to the Aircard was broken and I was getting much lower speed, it took many phone calls to convince them there was an issue and not on my computer. The issue was spotted and finally corrected; I received a replacement antenna sent via overnight mail. At the moment, since nothing else available in my area, I have not regretted signing up for Cyberonic 3g Wireless. In my honest opinion, Cyberonic is the best service I have ever had.

Data: Two accounts, home and business Speed: 6.0/768 -- home connection degraded to 3.0/512 Price: Home line-shared DSL: $70/month + 5 IPs at $15/month; Busness dry copper line: $110/month (includes 5 IPs and taxes) Equipment: Netopia 3347W (4 ethernet ports + wireless) Connection: PPPoE (still can get additional static IPs)
Install Process: Installation was rocky, but not Cyberonic's fault. They did their best to push the ILEC and CLEC to correct initial issues.
Significant notes: Phone tech support is knowledgable and helpful. Emails to tech support usually went unanswered.
Having used Cyberonic for several years while living in NYC (on the MCI backbone then), and the network was incredibly stable. I chose them for both my home and business connections when I moved, a testament to their service at the time.
Things have changed.
DSL gives you some of the slowest of the "high speed" access around, and dealing with Cyberonic reselling Covad who is reselling Verizon copper means price mark-ups and repair delays. FiOS and cable give you much better speeds at lower prices.
The impetus for my recent change in service provider: my business line was down for FOUR days.
FOUR DAYS.
Though this was due to something that Verizon did to the line, Cyberonic was not proactive in getting the issue resolved. I'm paying business rates (i.e., arbitrarily inflated) for a dry copper line, and they do not have anyone monitoring my issue. Everything stalled until I called to ask for a status update and get someone to take action on resolving the problem. This may be acceptable for a residential connection, but not for a business.
To add insult to injury, they require 30 days notice for termination, so even though they get credit from Covad for period the line is unused, they pocket the difference.

I live in an area that no DSL or Cable is available. My choices were Satellite or Cyberonic EVDO service. I had Satellite before, nothing but problem along with slow speed and bandwidth daily cap. I found out about Cyberonic here in broadbandreports.com. I contacted them via Cyberonic online chat right from their website www.cyberonic.com. The person who provided me the information was very informative and gave me all the details and availability. I received a contract via email, filled it out and faxed it to them. It took about a few days that I received the unit. The EVDO wireless unit included a Kyocera router and a booster antenna. I called Cyberonic tech, who logged in remotely and guided me to position the indoor antenna for the best signal. They use Sprint wireless towers for my connection and its unlimited EVDO wireless connection. The ping rate is about 200ms which is great, compare to high ping rate of satellite. I use my connection to log in to my work VPN without any problem. I will wait for cable, dsl or 4g when become available. I want faster speed.

I am still with them and everything works great. I changed my plan to dynamic Ip to reduce cost since I dont need static IP anymore. 6.0/768 for $39/mon.
I also subscribed to their Wireless EVDO for $69/mon for my vacation house that DSL or cable were nt available. the connection is pretty fast. I will write a review on that after.

I have Cyberonic for over a year now. I used to have AOL DSL and was questioning why I even had it. I decided to give Cyberonic a call and found out I was qualify for 6 megs which sure beats AOL'S 768k plan. I agreed to pay $60 a month for 6.0mb DSL. I got the Broadxent 8120 router with enough filters for my house. I am newbie with residential broadband but my son is a whiz so I have had no problems. Life is good.
About a few months ago I called Cyberonic when phones were busy constantly, I was told it was due to MCI buyout by Verizon. Anyhow, when I called yesterday they picked it up right away and was told there is no more wait time. I wanted to upgrade my IP address to 5 because my son wants to experiment running servers. Its amazing.
I've called customer service support a few times for minor issues; the reps have always answered the phone quickly and been friendly and cheerful. I recommend Cyberonic for home, small office, DSL or whatever your needs may be, they are truly there for the customer, which is rare these days!

Updated 1/2009
I am a Cyberonic member for many years. I love the service that came with Static IP service. My Broadxent router started acting up and just replaced my router for free. Cyberonic is a Covad reseller but cheaper and better Customer service. I recently got Cyberonic/Covad T1 for my office $359/mon.
Thank you
================================== I have had absolutely no problems with my 1.5/768 ADSL order. It took 7 days from the time I put the order in and received the Self_install kit. Speed is significantly faster than my previous Verizon Online DSL. I also got a static IP address verses PPPOE from Verizon so I can do online games, VPN and run a server. I love the connection reliability, speed and Cyberonic service. I have the service for almost 3 months with no outage and solid reliability. Cyberonic technical support has been great answering my questions and picked up the phone right away. I spoke with a few of their support technician and they were very knowledgeable and helpful every time. The package came with a SpeedStream 5861 4-port router, 1 static IP, 5 email accounts and personal web space. I dont use their personal webspace but email accounts are POP3 account and I use Netscape Mail to send and receive emails. I highly recommend Cyberonic for faster speed and great service.

I ordered Cyberonic 6 Mbps DSL over a Covad dryline about 3 years ago. It is $90 a month for 6 Mbps downstream. The dry line was installed by a Covad technician. They supplied a Brightport modem-router. The router reports 6016 sync.
Cyberonic's email servers are abominable. Remember 2400 bps modems? That's what it's like to wait on them. Often it never connects. SMTP, POP, webmail all glacial. Coincidentally I'm sure, after I downgraded my review of Cyberonic, my sync speed mysteriously dropped from 6016 + to 2016 ... safe mode.
I reported the low sync to Cyberonic tech support and they reset the connection. It then immediately returned to the normal 6016 that I'm paying for. Therefore, I'm upgrading this review slightly, but Cyberonic's email services remain the worst in the business.

Ordered the 6M/768k package. There wasn't any online ordering, but the sales person quickly walked me through the process. The install went smoothly without any serious issues other than a small mixup of when the line was actually activated. It seems to take a few days to get e-mail support, but phone support seems to answer quick and the people working in support seem to know what they are talking about. Equipment includes a Netopia Cayman 3347W router/802.11b gateway that must be returned upon termination of service.
The line speed tests to 5.4 mbps/610 kbps (I'm at less than 5000 ft to the CO).
Other than being a PPPoE connection, everything is good so far.
The package cost $60 a month for the first 6 months. $70 a month from that point on. There was also a $99 activation fee (after rebate) and a $17 S+H fee.
Update 12/31/08: I reactivated my account (6/768 dryline) as I needed static IP service again. They still seem to have the best deal for Static IP service in my area. E-mail support is still lacking and one of their mail servers was blacklisted on Spamhaus for a time.
Update 8/3/06: I am canceling as I no longer need a static IP and Cyberonic is not price competitive with dynamic IP offerings in my area.

I have upgraded to 8m/1m service and works great. Several years with Cyberonic, Static IP and so far great service.
Thanks
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---
I've had these guys for over three years now, 1.5/768 Static IP for $39.99/mon. I don't have any real issues when it's working, but when it breaks, what a nightmare. There were several outages that were all MCI related. One time when I lost carrier on the modem, all it took was a reset of the DSLAM card in the CO but that took 2 days. I wonder how many others this knocked out of service. Cyberonic technical did whatever they could. They answer calls right away days, nights and weekend. Thats what I like about them very responsive. Based on my experience, customer service is very friendly and helpful.
I am one HAPPY camper and would never change, all I know is I've been extremely pleased with them for years and continue to recommend them.

"Actual transition to covad happend with no hitch. Modem just resynced."
"No notice of new IP address cost me 4 days of e-mail service."
"Mostly smooth upgrade given a forced change by MCI"
| Pre Sales information: Install Co-ordination: Connection reliability: Tech Support: Services: Value for money: (ratings match consensus)

I am adding this review as I am being transition from MCI/Worldcom/uunet to Covad, all resold by cyberonic. I was a Worldcom customer since Telocity/DirectTV DSL went belly up, and I wanted a static IP address at a resonable cost. This eliminated SBC, and Comcast from the running. I have been happy with Worlcom for 3+ years, and hate to see them go.
The good: I was moved to Covad with no problems, (or as you will see notification) I just woke up one day to find that my IP address had changed. Cyberonic had managed to rebrogram my Worldcom proviced modem to work with Covad, and done a successfull hot swap while I was asleep. Later on, the same thing happend for my upgrade transition. I just noticed that my modem was now synced at 3mb, with no action required on my part. I requested 6mb upgrade, but I think I am too far for this. However since there was no notice, I don't actually know why I am at 3mb instead of 6mb, but I am happy with 3mb.
The bad: I run a DNS server, e-mail, and web from my home. Without notice, I was not able to prepare for the change. This meant that when the change happened, I still had a long TTL with my DNS and as a result lost about 4 days of service while the Internet learned of my new IP address. This transition could have been perfect if they had notified me of the details. Not all of us DSL users are simple web surfers. Some of us use ISPs that are static IP friendly for a reason, and it would be nice if the ISP would understand and respect this. It is why I pay $53 rather than $13 to pacbell. I also try to be understanding and know that I am a hobyist and don't pay $1k for a real business line. However, a little cooperation can give me a great value of business class service, not guaranteed for a price I can afford.
Hit my first problem in over 2 years, and it has turned out to be a mysterious problem with my firewall software. I continue to have minor problems because of long wire loop (14,100 ft). My price is $49, rather than $52 because I was unable to get 3mb service. While investigating my upload speed problem, the tech identified a packet loss problem that he was able to reproduce while physically at the CO. He has requested that my line card be checked out for problems. A couple of notes on Cyberonic. It was difficult to get to the point of getting a tech sent out, due the possibility of a charge. Some of the diagnostic hoops I was asked to do after Covad suggested that a home visit was needed seamed ridiculous. An example of this, was a request to replace my modem after I had already got the exact same results with 2 different modems. Of course all of this just makes it more embarrassing that the root cause of the problem turned out to be some kind of software configuration problem on my side. I just never expected a firewall to result in very slow upload speed as its only symptom.
As a static IP customer, the choices are limited and getting more limited all the time. Therefore, I hope this service continues.
