Gustavsson has been huge in the 2nd and 3rd period, after having a bit of a shaky first period. -- 1-for-October. (1-7-4) And now, back to your regularly scheduled losing. |

1 edit | reply to MarkAW It's kinda funny, ya know, how every couple years we get a new hater that drives us Leaf fans nuts... a few years ago it was Sens fan pulp39 ... When he mellowed out, it was no other than ZZZZZZZ ... He mellowed out, and now we have a new one persistantly shitting in every Leafs related topic... -- 1-for-October. | reply to dirtyjeffer So extrapolating for the season:
* 1 win every 7 games = 11, 22 pts * 5 OT losses over 14 games = 29, 29 pts
To round the numbers up, throw in another win and a couple more overtime losses, 4 pts
GRAND TOTAL: 55 pts. -- All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing - Edmund Burke. "Walk the Talk". |

1 edit | Lower the Leafs are in the standings at year end, the happier Bruins management will be... Bottom line, why dwell on the negative things in life when something good can come of the situation....
Besides win or lose...does it really matter to Leafs management when the AC joint consistently sells out? I suspect the teacher's pension fund bought the Leafs for a return on investment and not to bring the Cup back to Hogtown...
The longer the Cup draught the more memorable& precious will be the memories of George Armstrong, Dave Keon, Bobby Baun, Carl Brewer, Punch Imlach & gang hoisting the Cup in the spring of '67... |

all kidding aside......
I think the Leafs are playing around the level they are capable of. I don't say that to be mean or poke fun at the TML fan base, but all summer and into the fall, as BB assembled the team that is now playing, my reaction was usually "Why?" when a signing was announced. There is some young talent on the team (both at the ACC and Ricoh Centres) but the 'veteran guys' brought in were just a bunch of headscratchers for me. Toronto isn't alone, as Montreal did that too and so did Ottawa, but not to the same extent. Time will tell whether the moves Burkie made were good or not, but I'm wondering how long he'll have to show he did the right things. He's safe this season, but if next season isn't a big improvement I'll be shocked if he's still around in 2011. -- The thoughts expressed in the above post are those of the poster, and can only be attributed to his state of mind at the time of posting. The Leafs were pushed around too much last season, Burke was trying to put his stamp on the team. |

| reply to HiVolt the amusing thing about it is they have to really iterate over and over again how bad the leafs suck and make them (and their fans) the brunt of every joke so much so, that the only reasonable explanation would be to make themselves feel good about their choices in team support.
I'm going to see the leafs and habs play on Dec 1 at the Bell Center...I like both teams, but I hate Montreal fans (in general, there's always good fans). Booing players who left the team (especially if they go to a team like TO!), booing the US anthem to down right being rude in general. I wouldn't dare wear leafs items in Montreal for fear of not being ridiculed, but fear of being hurt...and to me, that's sad. |
