SATA port on 8300HDC DVR ?

I was wondering if anyone has hooked up a external hard drive via the sata port on the 8300HDC dvr and have it work on the suddenlink network?

I already have a hard drive enclosure with a sata port and cable, I just need a hard drive. I would like to know this answer before I go spending some money on one.

I only ask due to the wife refuses to delete anything on the dvr till we get it on dvd. >.>

Check out page 17 for instuctions for connecting an external SATA HD.

I've not tried this yet. Let me know how it goes.

Saw the port then read the manual. Just did not know if perhaps suddenlink disabled that feature or something.

Based on some searching I seem to have lost my hard drive enclosure, so as soon as I find that I might be buying a nice 500GB drive. In worst case I would be making a 500GB portable drive I can use for work and games.

First of all, you need to have the port enabled. I don't know what the situation is now. 2 years ago when i had 8300HDC, the port wasn't enabled. Once the port is enabled, you should be able to get most of the E-sata drives to work. There are some enclosures that do not work.

The port is disabled. Not sure why.
