| Experience slow download with Wow internet
Hi everyone First of all, i don't have much experience with computer. I got basic 2Mb internet and basic cable form Wow couple day ago. Yes, it is basic because i am not a heavy computer user. However, i do download files from internet from time to time and i only get up to about 250 kps. I thought since this is 2mb package, atleast i would get about 600kps to 700kps. Can some one explain this to me? By the way, i live in Illinois. Thank |

1 edit | I think you are mixing up KB and Kb, and MB and Mb. The big B represents Bytes and the little b represents Bits. You are subscribing to the 2Mb per second (see small b) package which translates to about 250 KB per second (see the big B) download speeds.
In order to get 700 KB per second download speeds you would need to subscribe to a 6+MB per second service.
8 bits are in 1 byte, 1024 bytes make up a 1 kilobyte (KB), 1024 KB is one MB.
I hope that helped a bit, FliPP
EDIT: here is a nice calculator if you want to punch in a few numbers to see what you get: »www.speedguide.net/conversion.php |
