Google's main page will never be down... why don't people just get that fact ?! -- Life is a game of blackjack. You keep playing until you bust. |

@rogers.com | reply to mulambo187 Funny that it's only Google affected by the faulty DNS. Are we supposed to use Yahoo search instead? Something's fishy here!
I switched my DNS to 4.2.2.1 , 4.2.2.2 and never had the problem again. |

@rogers.com | reply to mulambo187 This issue still persists.
Rogers DNS will randomly not resolve google.com or google.ca
When this happens i use google.co.uk and that seems to resolve all the time. |

| Google has geographic shadow sites set up around the US, so depending on where you are you can end up at a different location. (Other search engines and sites do the same thing).
I'm wondering if they're doing that here and maybe in the middle of setting it all up? That could produce some crazy resolution problems. |

@rogers.com | reply to mulambo187 I would rather put the blame on Rogers' DNS than Google.
This thread was only created this week but this "random not resolving google" issue with Rogers has been going on for atleast a month now. |

| reply to mulambo187 Rogers DNS has been one of the worse DNS's for years and years and years.. in fact its been horrible since 1995 when they first set it up.
The horrible DNS server they run have only been rivelled by thier disgusting email servers, that finally after being utter crap have been replaced with a yahoo contract, and I can only assume improved them a LOT. The @home server for a little while were also I think slightly better.
Anyhow having been a rogers cable internet customer for 14 years, I've been using my own DNS (or others at times) servers and email (or others) servers for 13.5 years and haven't had hardly a problem ever. |

| Set the following in Tomato's "Basic" (configuration) menu;
Static DNS: enter 4.2.2.1 in the box (default is 0.0.0.0)
Next box below the above, enter 4.2.2.2 (default is 0.0.0.0)
Then push the Save button at the bottom of the screen. |
