Ripped off!

I had Vonage from May 2009 to Nov 1st 2009-As usual bait and switch my 24.99 turned to 32.99-When I canceled they charged me $116.00 after 5 months usage, criminal behavior at best!

All those fees. As if nobody else has them.

Some carriers add on extra fees such as taxes and USF, some don't.

Some carriers have cancellation or early termination charges, some don't.

You need to check that out up front.

I am absolutely not a Vonage fan, by the way, but the charges you mention should not have been a surprise.

Are you saying that you were not expecting taxes and fees on top of the 24.99/mth plan? Also after the first 30 days you are locked into a 1 year contract. All this is stated up front.

Or perhaps even the not-so-fine print.

My vision is not that good, but I have no difficulty reading the information concerning additional monthly fees and cancellation fees that is presented on the first page of the form used to order the Vonage service.

I just called into vonage today they was also charging me 32.32 a month and I told the rep that I could get the same plan for 18 dollars a month (from a different provider) so they switched my pricing to 12.50 a month for 12 months after 12months it will go back to 24.16 a month which after the 12 months I will call back and get a lower rate again. because I been with vonage for 2 years and didnt have any problems intill they start jacking up the price for the stupid fee's.

A lot of providers could give you excellent service for about $18 per month, net with all fees and 911 included. I'd start with Future Nine (future-nine.com), Callcentric (callcentric.com), voip.ms and voipo (voipo.com) to name a few. All have very competitive pricing and have given great service.

Mind you, the provider you choose should be selected based on YOUR needs. Right now Vonage's international calling plan is really good. Others could likely meet it, but plenty can't. If you don't use that feature, though, you have plenty of choices.
