[DVR] err code-4?

I have motorola DCT6416 III hd/dvr box and now when I try to access ondemand I get a error retrieving data err-4. I have get a please wait one moment on some channels like fit tv, espn classic and a few others I can't remember right off the top of my head. I had 2 techs out and the problem started again. I'm tired of calling insight about this issue. Seems like the people that come out don't know too much about problems like this. One said the signal wasn't strong enough and said he was going to try to make it stronger. Anyone know how I can check the signal of the cable from the box? I'm to the point that I'm thinking of going somewhere else for cable.

from what I learned as well its the signal is weak. Im no expert just things I experienced.

So normally that would be checking cables and whats all plugged in. Im guessing since they have been there thats been done.

One way to check signals is on your cable modem. Some cable modems config screen can tell you your signal info and things. You might be able to relay that to a support person or talk to some others. I dont know all the signal levels so I wouldnt be able to help you.

If you have a Motorola modem the config page is 192.168.100.1 and you can get the info signal "link" part of that. Im not sure of other modems config and what they offer.

See we had a problem with our cable being out for about 3 days and they didn't know what the problem was so they sent out someone to check the lines on the pole. They did and they thought they fixed it and it never did so we called them back and they came back to rigged up the line so it will work. But ever since they came out and did that, we have been having crappy service. I'm at wits end, I'm tired of calling them and having people come out only to tell me different answers. My channels are back on but my OnDemand isn't for my hd.dvr box.

We had an issue like that for quite a while... it ended up being an improperly installed splitter many miles upstream if you will in the cable line... took them 6 months to find it. After they fixed it 20.0 broadband worked great and everything else did too.

We called insight again and they are sending someone out today. I hope they fix the problem.

From what I understand... error 4 is some sort of general communications error. Insight was able to fix mine by pairing the cable card that's inside my DH6416 with the box itself. Evidently that's not something that needs to be done for them to work, but can cause complications with VOD.
